Pentiments welcomes the philosopher of math, contemporary artist, curator, enigmatic black sheep enfant terrible and close friend Eric Schmid to the fold with the conclusion to his infamous “Philosophers” trilogy. Those familiar with the bombast and outrageousness that has thus far characterized this intrepid tripartite persiflage will know what to expect here. The transmutation of the satirist precedents set by dark horse figures like Dieter Roth, Martin Kippenberger or Al Hansen into the milieu of contemporary theory has become a calling card to which only Eric can lay claim, and whether to be offended by the flouting of any and all decorum usually granted to the representation of a high profile living thinker or whether to find it inexplicably hilarious is ultimately up to the listener. We personally must admit, despite all appeals within ourselves to maturity, to the latter.
